Live & work in the UK under Tier 1  Migrant visa

Skilled migration plays an important part in the United Kingdom's effort to keep its economy globally competitive. As part of the UK's five-tier points based immigration system, Tier 1 (General) allows highly skilled individuals who score the requisite points to immigrate to the UK without any kind of sponsorship from an employer. The following tables show the amount of points as applicant can score for specific criteria. A score of 75 must be attained.

 English Language Ability 

To Apply for a Tier 1 visa, you must show that you are proficient in English by proving one of the following:

That you have passed a test in English equivalent to level C1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework for Language Learning (equivalent to a grade C or better at GCSE or an approximate overall band score of 6.5 on an IELTS exam)

That you have taken a degree taught in English from a list of select countries, verified by using the National Academic Recognition Information Centre data.

The only exception to this requirement is where the applicant has undertaken the PTE Academic test. In these cases the applicant should provide a print out of their online score report. Applicants should also ensure that they have made their online results available to the UK Border Agency on the Pearson verification system. Where an applicant fails to do this no points will be awarded for English Language.

Maintenance Fund

You will be required to score ten points by providing that you can support yourself and any dependents.Applying from within the UKproof of GBP800 in a bank account at all time for three months prior to application. Applying from OUTSIDE the UK proof of GBP2800 in a bank account at all times for three months prior to application.

Visa Fees:

  • Tier 1 Migrant visa fees are GBP 690 (for applicant/each dependant) or BDT 79,350/-
  • For student visa you have to pay BDT 16750, in favour of "British High Commission".
  • All visa fees will need to be paid at designated branches of BRAC Bank Ltd.
  • Alternatively, an applicant has the option to turn in with a pay order demand draft of the exact visa application fee amount in favor of the "British High Commission" but bank drafts only from Standard Chartered, HSBC, Sonali Bank, South East Bank or BRAC Bank are acceptable. The applicants also have the option to purchase a Banker's Draft at the UK Visa Application Centre. There is a Bank processing fee of BDT 150 when paying the visa application fees in cash at the Bank Counter inside the Visa Application Centre. 4. Applicants will be given a receipt (which will be valid for 30 days from the next working day).
  • The receipt should then be submitted with an application form to one of the Visa Application Center (VAC) or the British High Commission's commercial partner VFSCenter

Finger Scans & Photograph For Visa:

All persons applying for UKvisas, irrespective of nationality, will have to apply in person to one of the VACs to have their finger scans and digital photograph taken. 

Photography Specification:

1. One recent, passport-sized (45mm x 35mm), colour photograph. The photograph should be:
a. Taken against a light coloured (white, off-white etc.) background
b. Clear and of good quality and not framed or backed
c. Printed on normal photographic paper
d. Full face without sunglasses, hat or other head covering unless for cultural or religious reasons

Document Checklist for Tier 4 (General) Student visa:

  1. Visa Application Form (VAF 9) for students.
  2. A passport with at least 6 months validity. There must have visa pages to paste the visa document. You can also submit your old passport, if available.
  3. One passport sized photograph. This must not be more than 6 months old. Please see photography specification described above.
  4. The appropriate visa fee.
  5. Evidence to support the information you have given (see below for more details).
  6. Unless single, please provide evidence of your marital status e.g. marriage or civil partnership certificate.
  7. CAS Letter (Confirmation of Admission for Study) from university/college in the UK. In this letter there must have the following information
    a. Start and end date of the course
    b. How many hours to study per week.
    c. Accommodation and its cost information.
    d. Tuition fee of this course.
  8. Evidence of any previous study or qualifications gained in the UK.
  9. Evidence of any English language qualifications e.g. IELTS or TOEFL.
  10. Evidence of previous education history.
  11. Evidence of the cost of your course fees.
  12. Evidence of any funds set aside by your financial sponsors specifically to pay for your study.
  13. Dependant of a Student.
  14. Evidence of your current employment/self employment/occupation/work (if any).
  15. Evidence of your total monthly income from all sources of employment or occupation after tax.
  16. Evidence of any income from other sources e.g. friends, family, savings, property (if any) etc.
  17. Statement of bank account showing maintenance fund.
